Dubuc&Co.: a family affair
Dubuc & Co. is the child of Luc Dubuc and his pioneering vision. After realizing there was an opening in the market for quality wood veneer in Canada and the United States, he set about becoming one of the biggest suppliers of wood veneer in North America, a goal that was reached within 40 years. Today, Dubuc & Co. exports 75% of its production to the United States, which makes it one of the most important players in the industry.
1977: auspicious beginnings.
A reliable team and quality products make for continuous growth.
With the help of his wife and eldest son Sylvain, Luc Dubuc founded Placages Nicolet-Sud in 1977. During the first few years the company restricted its production to two wood species, oak and pine.
With the acquisition of a competitor in 1994, Placages Nicolet-Sud was able to grow and start production of veneer in more than seven wood species.
At the dawn of the new century, founder Luc Dubuc turned over company management to his sons, his nephew, and his son-in-law.
From 2013 to 2018, David Dubuc and Denis Dubuc, respectively son and nephew of Luc Dubuc run the family business.
Today: an innovative family-owned enterprise.
The company continues to grow with a new name and a dedication to constant improvement.
The company is now managed by its two shareholders, Luc Dubuc’s son David, and Dany Désilets, who joined the team in 2015 as director of operations. Dany’s dedication, and his training in engineering and management, were instrumental in his eventually becoming company sales director, vice president and shareholder in 2018.
As for Denis Dubuc, a shareholder of the company for more than eighteen years, the former vice president and sales director will continue to act as a privileged advisor for the family business.
In 2019, Placages Nicolet-Sud adopted a fresh new image and became Dubuc & Co. in honor of founder Luc Dubuc and his family. The new name accurately reflects what we have always been: a friendly, family-run company that values innovation and quality.
